History
I started running in January of 2004 to get in shape. I had gained too much weight and felt terrible. I was able to run my first 5K 3 months later. 2 years later and 50 lbs lighter, I have continued to push for greater goals and have run 5 marathons and I am training for an Iron distance triathlon now. Everyday I wake up with a positive attitude towards life, training and my future.

Friday !
March 31, 2006
Friday has become my favorite day of the week. Not because it is the end of the work week but because it is a rest day from training --- except today. Balancing the demands of work, family and training has got to be the hardest part of preparation for a race. But all three interlace to be part of your life and you cannot have one without the other two. Having to work tomorrow - which normally would be a moderate run, I needed to switch things around to get my mileage in this week. So this morning I ran 6 miles. I did feel pretty good this morning and had a bounce in my stride, much better than earlier this week. My confidence is back up there. I have planned to get in about 1 hour of swimming this afternoon and a bike ride. So we'll see how things go. I am looking forward to Daylight Savings this weekend so that I can now get in more training in the evenings outside.

Better Day
March 30, 2006

Wow! What a difference a day off makes. Today I ran 800 Intervals. Legs felt much better. Weather is finally feeling like Spring. Temps in the 40s to start the day. Still pretty windy around here. Tomorrow I will probably run in the morning, Swim in the afternoon and bike in the evening. Should be a nice day for it.

Bad Day
March 29, 2006

Why is it just when you are feeling good - you suddenly feel like crap. After running 17 miles on Sunday I felt great. I was tired but my legs felt strong. Monday I ran 3 miles and added one hour of bike in the afternoon and again felt great. Yesterday I planned on 9 miles but could bearly finish 7 miles at a god-awful pace. I'm not sure if I am slightly overtrained or just had a bad day. So today I took the day off. No exercise. Got a good night's sleep last night and I do feel a little better today. I am looking forward to tomorrow - speed intervals. I love speed intervals - sounds wierd doesn't it. I just love seeing how fast and hard I can go. Well let's see how it goes. Ciao!

Welcome to my blogsite. I have been blogging on Yahoo 360 but have found that this site is more available to the general public. I look forward to blogging about my upcoming training and future races as a Triathlete.
