History
I started running in January of 2004 to get in shape. I had gained too much weight and felt terrible. I was able to run my first 5K 3 months later. 2 years later and 50 lbs lighter, I have continued to push for greater goals and have run 5 marathons and I am training for an Iron distance triathlon now. Everyday I wake up with a positive attitude towards life, training and my future.

Denver Velo Swap
October 30, 2006
Simple description of the Denver Velo Swap

-------- Awesome Bike Porn -----------

I arrived at what I though was early enough - 8:30am. Boy was I shocked when I saw the line was about 2-3 blocks long. there were more people in that line than the last Rolling Stones concert. WOW.

The doors opened at 9:00 am and people flooded into the building like cows to slaughter. Tickets at the door were a reasonable $8.00.

What I was subjected to next is pure amazement.

This year's Velo Swap featured well over 500 vendors, both commercial and private. Every inch of the building was either filled with people or bicycles or parts for the same. There were bicycles there of every type known to man including those old bicycles with the great big front tire and tiny back tire. Boy those would have been a challenge in the Tour De France.

I wandered from table to table, from one section to the other. Looking at everything. I was making mental notes of wish list items and what I would end up buying later. I wanted to take a general look at everything first and then go back through for a more detailed inspection and buying trip.

I was amazed at the high end bikes that were on display, the Cervelos, the Felt's, the Quintana Roos and Treks. There was a ton of cycling gear on sale everywhere you looked. From new to old, used and antiques. It was like being in bicycle nervana. I would approximate that 75% of the swap was devoted to MTB with the other going to road cycling. MTB has really become the more popular cycling type in recent years. It is more technical and is not held to any conditions like road cycling - ( road conditions, weather etc )

I do need to talk about my purpose behind going to the show was to find a Tri bike for next year. Well I am happy to say that I did find one. Tomorrow I will introduce my new bike "Apollo"

For now CIAO
