Hello Everyone in Blog Land and Triathlon Land. Sorry for the one month hiatus. I know everyone in the world was wondering if I fell off the end of the world or what. Well, Hell I don't know what happened to me. I think I was was suffering from PTSD. Also known as Post Triathlon Stress Depression. Now you may laugh as I have in the past at articles and stories of athletes getting depressed after a major event, I never though it would happen to me. I have never had a depressed moment in my life. I am the king of optimism and good mood. Yeah Right! About 2 weeks after the Timberman Race - after the hype and the stories were all told. I found myself not wanting to do much of anything. I would plan my nights and weekends to start getting a new workout schedule planned, only to go home and plop in front of the TV. I would force myself to go for a short run or short bike but I never got into it. I felt myself slipping fast. I originally planned on doing a race in Montrose, Co. But I never signed up. Last weekend I found myself looking at my training calendar. Then I thought to myself - Self - What the F*&^ are you doing. Get your F#$%ing Ass up off the couch and let's start training again. Motivation is what I need. What I need is to start blogging again. Start talking to the world again. Letting the world see what I was doing. As if everyone was watching me again. So this week has been much more productive. I'm back in the pool - not so much pushing my distance, but working more on technique, strengthening and tempo. I am getting back to the gym 2x/week, working on core strengthening, upper body strengthening, and lower body strengthening. At night I am working on flexibility, stretches and abs. At least when I'm not painting. Oh, by the way - anyone interested in buying a nice 3 bedroom house in Colorado with 2.5 acres? Please............ So anyway - meeting with our local Tri Club last week helped a lot. We have a plan of action for the next coming months. Included in our plans - running the Fall and Winter Series in Colorado Springs, Swimming on Tuesday and Fridays, long bike rides on Sundays. I think all of us getting back together will help me get back into full swing again. I have been told that I should rest for awhile. Hell I know that. But I don't want to lose everything I gained this summer. I plan on working on specific weak areas for awhile. I do need something to look forward to though...... Hmmmmm - what to look forward to........ Oh I got it. NOVEMBER 4th at 9:00 in the morning. What in God's name could be happening on that date at that time? It's the IRONMAN FLORIDA sign up day for 2008. I will be sitting in front of my computer with my credit card hot in my hands. ATTENTION RACE FANS!!!!!! YES - I am doing Ironman Florida next year.. I will be Ironman next year. I am going to join the ranks of the completely insane.... Life is good, Life is great, get out there and LIVE IT......Get off your Ass..... CIAO !!!!! |
