History
I started running in January of 2004 to get in shape. I had gained too much weight and felt terrible. I was able to run my first 5K 3 months later. 2 years later and 50 lbs lighter, I have continued to push for greater goals and have run 5 marathons and I am training for an Iron distance triathlon now. Everyday I wake up with a positive attitude towards life, training and my future.

BORING !!!!!!!!!

I really hate running on a treadmill. Even with a TV on or and IPod stuck in my ears, being on a treadmill is like a slow death.

But, the road are still very icy and the mornings pretty cold. So, in order to train you must make sacrifices.

I finished my scheduled training for this morning. 30 minute run with 6 x 1min fartleks. This was the first day back on my legs since the Marathon. At first I was pretty stiff and wasn't sure if I should push as hard as I was scheduled. I decided about half way to quit whining and finish my training with a 110% effort.

Ever notice that even if you don't feel like training at first, you sure feel great after completing the training. Knowing that you beat back the little pessimistic voice in your head. It's definitely a morale booster.

Tomorrow morning is another swim day with the 5 newbie swimmers. I have heard rumor around town that they have all been training really hard. I look forward to seeing how much they have improved. I will be adding 2-3 more drills tomorrow for them to practice. It gives me a chance to improve as well while doing drills with them. hard to believe that 1 year ago I could hardly make it from one end to the other of the pool.

Let's continue the journey!
