History
I started running in January of 2004 to get in shape. I had gained too much weight and felt terrible. I was able to run my first 5K 3 months later. 2 years later and 50 lbs lighter, I have continued to push for greater goals and have run 5 marathons and I am training for an Iron distance triathlon now. Everyday I wake up with a positive attitude towards life, training and my future.

Where have I been you ask. Well vacation started last week and although I never really went anywhere - I have been busier than I would be if I was at work.

I have spent the majority of my time working my second job - I am trying to get together a little nest egg for my real vacation in August as I try and compete in the Timberman 70.3 Race.

But I am not saying that I have not done anything else while on vacation. On Monday I got in a great 2000 yard swim with the Tri Club. It felt awesome to just keep swimming continuously for 45 minutes or so. I felt real strong in the water and felt that my stroke and form were coming together. I finished the last 200 yard real strong and pushed myself hard to finish the full distance.

On Tuesday - I got in a 56 mile bike ride. The ride took me out to Pueblo West. there was little to no wind for a change and I was able to maintain a 20.6 mph average. I did have to stop and fix a flat again but that is not bothering me much anymore. My tri-bike is working pretty good and I did not have too much back discomfort for the entire ride. My legs felt strong for the entire ride.

Wednesday morning I got in a 7 mile run that felt great. I did the run at 8000 ft and was able to maintain a decent pace. I did lose a considerable amount of sweat weight though and found myself down to 169 lbs after the run a loss of about 3 lbs of water.

Today I got back in the pool - I have been working the last 3 graveyard shifts and I feel like a zombie. but I was able to get myself out of bed early enough to get in a great swim again. Today I was shooting for a little longer swim than Monday and a little fast swim than Monday. turns out I got both with a swim of 2100 yards and 43 minutes. If I can keep that pace at the 70.3 I will be real happy with that. I felt great after the swim today and feel that I am progressing nicely in my training. The next 2 weeks will be tough, before the taper. I need to push just a little bit harder and stay on schedule. Let's see how that goes - CIAO !
